Identity design

We were tasked to create a comprehensive re-branding programme for Valiant – formerly known as BrandTruth – a Johannesburg-based integrated, full service agency that puts digital at the centre of everything they do. In line with this digital-first positioning, we created a bitmap-inspired monogram, paired it with a fun, super-flexible smorgasbord of colours, and peppered it with irreverent, internet-inspired copy. This identity became a fitting vehicle for their ambitious vision to be the best-in-class African digital agency on the planet.

In mid-2020, BrandTruth’s leadership team took the decision to undertake a complete overhaul of their existing brand, signalling a new phase in their five year business journey. Recognising that this significant milestone required a key strategic and creative partner, we were appointed to help refine their internal communication framework, define their brand story and launch a new, invigorated visual language.

Our engagement spanned the development of a detailed brand manual, the rollout of extensive corporate assets and the design of launch material, including those related to internal on-boarding and alignment, press engagement and sales communication. Key to the success of this project was our close involvement with the company’s leadership, including the CEO, CCO and COO.
